In 2009, she started writing for a blog under a pseudonym for BBC, which gave away details of her life under Taliban occupation and how she wishes to promote education. In 2011, she was shot by a gunman thrice with one bullet hitting her forehead and running through the length of her face. She endured the attack and has become a global symbol for bravery.
